A Decade of Discovery in the Automotive World
My foray into the automotive world began unexpectedly during high school when I found myself in a mechanic course, a path I hadn't initially chosen. Despite the challenges, I excelled in the class, discovering a knack for understanding the intricacies of engines. This unexpected turn became the starting point for a decade-long journey that has defined my career.

The early years were marked by a blend of perseverance and personal challenges. A family health crisis and the need for stability led me to pursue a grant for an automotive service technician course at my community college. Thriving in a male-dominated industry, I graduated and gained hands-on experience at Hyundai and Chrysler stores. However, the physical demands of the trade led me to explore alternative roles.

From Parts Advisor to Finance Manager: A Varied Path
A shift into the parts department at a Mazda store provided stability, but financial realities as a single parent prompted me to seek new opportunities. I transitioned to become a service advisor, gaining insights into the less-than-ideal side of vehicle ownership. A return to Mazda as a parts advisor and later leading a BDC/internet sales department broadened my skill set, with exposure to marketing and website development.

Despite personal challenges and changing career directions, I found my stride as a finance manager, mastering the complexities of automotive financing. Long hours and a demanding schedule were the norm, but the experience built the confidence I needed.

Navigating Dreams and Reality
Dreams of opening a female-owned and operated used car store fueled my ambitions. However, life's twists led me to diverse roles, including managing one of New Brunswick's top used car stores and working with a subprime bank to understand the intricacies of credit in the industry.

Wheels With Alex: A New Chapter
Now, at Wheels With Alex, I've evolved my vision. While I've stepped away from the dream of owning a store, my passion for connecting with people and bridging the gap between consumers and dealers remains stronger than ever.
Through this podcast and social media platform, I aim to impart knowledge, share experiences, and eliminate the anxieties associated with car buying.
